ASHTANGA YOGA TEACHER TRAINING & PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, 2013/14

Whether you want to teach yoga or not this 200hour program will expand and refine your knowledge, ability, understanding and appreciation for the vast potentials of yoga.
Overview
This Yoga Teacher Training/ Personal Development Program will, over the course of eight months, immerse students in the practice, philosophy and theory of yoga through a comprehensive program of study and practice in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition. The program places strong emphasis on personal practice and experience as the primary sources for teaching yoga and for personal development.
Students will gain practical knowledge and experience of the process of yoga and the skills required to guide others on their yogic journey. All contact hours are with Jonathan Austman.
The training will cover the following:
- Personal Practice Development
- All postures and vinyasa of the Primary Series plus variations
- Intermediate Series primer
- Asana Technique, Alignment, Method and Form
- Asana Corrections, Assists and Adjustments
- Pranayama and Meditation
- Yoga Philosophy and Cosmogony
- Chanting Forms
- Principles of Yogic and Western Anatomy
- Observation Skills
- Teaching Methodology and Practice Teaching
Attendance

Practice
During the program attending 3 Mysore classes and the Sunday morning Primary Series class each week constitutes the minimum practice hours required for successful completion of the program.
Homework
There will be a variety of homework/self-study assignments throughout the program.
Who Should Apply
Yoga practitioners/teachers wishing to deepen their understanding and practice of yoga and those interested in becoming yoga teachers are welcomed to apply.
A consistent and regular practice of Hatha (ideally Ashtanga Vinyasa) yoga for at least one year's duration is required as a prerequisite for this program.
If you are applying for the training and are not currently practicing Mysore it is recommended that you begin as soon as possible.
A Certificate of Achievement will be granted upon satisfactory completion of the program.
Application
To apply for the program send an email to: jonathan@yogapublic.com Include your name, address, phone number(s), and responses (please number your responses) to the following questions:
- Describe yourself, i.e. education, occupation, general health and condition, age, etc.
- Describe your background/ experience with yoga. Who is your teacher?
- Do you currently practice Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga? For how long?
- Describe your yoga practice.
- Why are you interested in taking this training? What are your expectations/ objectives?
- List any other yoga trainings you have taken. Who taught them? When did you take them? Are you a yoga teacher?
- Are there any other trainings you’ve taken that you feel may be relevant to this one?
- What is your strength and what is your weakness?
- Describe any health issues you have, i.e. medical conditions, injuries, medications, surgeries, allergies, etc.
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Apply early. There is no cost to submit an application.
Notification of acceptance will be given within two weeks of receipt of each application. Upon acceptance you will be sent the list of required books you'll need to purchase for the program.
Investment
Tuition of Program - $3,000.00 + $150.00 (GST) = $3,150.00
Upon acceptance into the program a deposit of $600.00 +GST is required to hold your space.
The balance, $2,400.00 + GST, is due before or on the first day of the program.
All payments are to be made to Yoga Public
The cost of Mysore practice is not included in the program fee. An 8 month unlimited Teacher Trainee pass at Yoga Public is required for all students accepted into the program. The cost of the pass is $600.00 + GST.
