Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, also known as Yogic Sleep, is a deep healing practice intended to induce total physical, mental and emotional relaxation. This meditation is practiced laying down. The five-stage process that begins with a body scan shifting your awareness and placing consciousness into parts of the body to engage one's physicality. It incorporates meditation on the breath, the balancing of feelings and emotional states, visualization, and self-healing. Setting a positive intention is another important step (which is called a sankalpa) and this gives the participant a specific purpose to the session.

Radical Relaxation

Radical Relaxation is another Yoga Nidra class format (same as above plus). But in this class we lie on flotation devices, juxtaposed by weighted gravity blankets placed on top of the body, offering a feeling of being grounded and rooted while at the same time feeling light and airy. Radically relaxing :)

Thai Yin Yogassage *specialty class, fee $35 + gst

A therapeutic yoga class combining Yin yoga and Thai yoga Massage. In a Yin yoga practice the poses are held for several minutes to stretch the connective tissues of the body, primarily targeting the tissues of the hips, thighs and lower spinal region. This practice not only lengthens and releases tension in the muscles but also exercises the bones and joints creating space and relieving the body from aches and pains.

In Thai yoga massage the therapist uses hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Traditional Thai Massage is based on energy flow along lines (energy channels), called Sen. The therapist works on the energy points to relieve blockages and imbalances in the energy line in order to restore wellbeing. Traditional Thai Massage can be applied gently for relaxation, or deeply to relieve muscular and myofascial tension.

These two practices are complimentary to one another and are offered in a yoga class setting limited to 6 students. While holding yin poses for 5-10 min the therapist moves from student to student offering Thai massage techniques, to relieve stress and tension from the body. Thai Yin Yogassage is a complete practice, combining meditation, breath work, relaxation, restoration and deep tissue releases to maintain health and promote a general sense of well-being.

This class is not included in membership; fee is $35. Wear long comfortable leg wear, long sleeves and socks. You must cancel more than 24 hours in advance or forfeit your fee; due to limited space in class, it is simply a needed consideration for the instructor and other participants.
